2000 ML320 Brilliant Silver
Audible sound when locking/unlocking the ML's
Just bought me a used 2000 ML320 two months ago and actually my first MB ever. I was just wondering if there is a way to make the alarm/horn sounds besides the parking light blinking three times when locking and once when unlocking. Sometimes I have the tendency to just get out the car, press the remote while walking away without making sure if its lock or not. By the way, my car didn't come with the so called manuals................

MB never had an audible lock/unlock alert. I like the fact that they resisted the trend to add beeps, chirps and other annoying sounds to a sophisticated line of automobiles. I wouldn't mind a little Mozart though...

It is possible on the late model cars to do this by changing programming in the alarm siren. Late model E class cars will beep no matter what, you can't turn that off anymore... They just issued a bulletin on that today.
MLs never used the same siren, and therefore you cannot make it beep when you lock or unlock it.

I've already asked this question, because I too had the tendency of leaving my car unlocked, I have a 2002. So when my alarm was acting up, I took it for repairs under warranty and asked my service advisor if he could enable the chirping sound, and he said that the only ML's that do it, are one's in Sweeden, and that he'd have to change all the settings to those of Sweeden's. Of course all you need to do is go to the computer and simply change the setting to Sweedish, but of course my service advisor is lazy.

If it were programmed for the USA it would not beep.
