Exclamation Has anyone shipped a ML from US to UK/EUROPE?

I just shipped a 2000 ML320 from Boston (USA) to London (UK). I have a few issues with the car. The dealers here are like sheep - their aim is to be as clueless about everything. Anyway- the main issue is the warranty and service. Am I able to use the 50k mile service/warranty here? Also, the radio is a bit messed up. Here the stations are with both odd and even freqs but MCS has only odd freqs. Anyone know what to do in this situation? Cheers....

Hi

We in UK dont get MCS (we get COMAND on our ML's) and you will have a major problem getting map disks (read "not available") - if you have a recent ML (and Im pretty sure 2000 counts, but if you have a CD changer, it needs to be fibreoptic for it to work still), then you can retrofit COMAND to it, *if* you get a COMAND system for a ML (then you need one wiring harness)

Alternatively, if you dont want sat-nav, you can buy a European one slot CD Audio-10 or similar from Ebay and the appropriate blanking panel and have that installed.

I highly doubt you will be able to use the warranty - our cars are very differently warrantied. But Im sure your dealer will call MB europe to check - you wont get the nice "road-side assistance for life" that we get here (if you have the vehicle properly serviced).

Thanks for the info. Actually, regarding the MCS - do you know if there is a way to get the MCS radio serviced to read different radio frequencies? Right now, it tunes in odd stations/freqs - but I would prefer all or even freqs. It could be a setting somewhere or a software update or something like that. I do not use the SAT NAV so CDs are not an issue. Thanks....

I doubt its possible, since MCS is only used for US market, and US market dont use even frequencies.

Saying that, theres *very* little in the UK (apart from the football on 693) on AM at all .. (ok, so very little that I listen to)

Does you MCS work properly with RDS, ie do you get all the station names on FM, and the traffic alert stuff ?

I meant the FM stations do not work. For example, the MCS will tune into Radio One (98.5) but not Capital Radio (95.8). I.e. It will pick up odd FM frequencies but not even ones. I thought there might be a way to get this changed by means of a software upgrade or tweak somewhere in the MCS.
