‘02 ML500 Surging

Parked the ml in the shop just to replace a rear door lock assembly.
When I was finished and pulled out of my driveway, the truck started surging with steady pressure on the gas pedal.
It’s like I was repeatedly pressing on the pedal to make the truck hop.
There are NO CODES at all after it does this.
Really shocked me as it was for me when I parked it in my shop.
I replaced the throttle cable and the sensor it connects to on the bulkhead in the engine compartment.
I also added dry gas and injector cleaner and filled the fuel tank thinking maybe bad gas.
Really puzzled what can be causing this.
Anyone here have any similar problem?
Thoughts?
Thanx!

Still not right
I replaced the MAF sensor but no improvement.
one thing noticed is it does not do it until it gets hot. It seems to act up after driving 4 miles or so and mostly from a standing stop.

Replaced the fuel pump and filter.
Still have the intermittent surging…most times from a stop.
It drives fine for miles but at the next stop it hesitates/surges 4 or 5 times then it takes off!
