I am hoping someone can tell me what the part circled in red is?
It appears to be a motor on top that turns a cam that turns an articulated link. Problem is the bottom link is broken and I don't know what it attaches to.
The view is taken from the front right wheel well after removing wheel liner on my daughters 2002 ML320 (VIN 4JGAB54EX2A347538).
Thanks in advance.
Timfountain and Chassis - thank you so much!
As you can see from the picture, the linkage arm hangs down as the bottom linkage arm is missing. Can you tell me what the missing linkage arm connects to?

Sorry, I was out on vacation. I really don't know where it's supposed to connect to. Do you have any codes?

The lower end connects to the lower control arm. The upper end connects to the sensor, which is connected to the vehicle body structure.
