2000 ML320
2000 ML320
I have someone wanting a small convertible I have and she wants to trade a 2000 ML320 title for title. It was her husbands car before he passed and she always wanted a PT Cruiser convertible. I'm sure when I can put my scanner on it, there might be several trouble codes. I'm not worried about that as I do most of my own work.
It's a 2000 with 93,000 miles. From what I've seen at the U of Y (Youtube) the engine and transmission are robust but the transfer case can be problematic. Is there anything else I need to look at? I was heading over to look at it today but she called and told me she couldn't find the title. We're nearly 200 miles apart from each other so I just turned around and came back home. I haven't seen the car but it's green. I asked her to send a couple of pictures so I know what to look for at the bone yard.
I'll look for major rust obviously. Things of a general nature like worn tires from front end parts needing repair. Is there anything specific to this model?

If it starts and doesn't have any warning lights, then it is a good 'un! Mine has all the warning lights going (ABS, EST, ESP, BAS etc.,), but still drives better on road without the Mercedes Super Nanny than with it, but lacks traction control and low range and cruise control. So, if it drives along at all, go for it, and if it doesn't drive, tow it home and use it for parts!

The owner wants to get rid of it because it was her late husbands car and it hurts every time she looks at it. She's wanting to trade it for a Chrysler PT Cruiser convertible I've got. I don't know if we'll trade as she is expecting leather seats as her previous ones had them. Mine is a base car with cloth seats. I was on my way to look at it and she called saying she couldn't find the title. I was still 100 miles short so I turned around and went home. We are 180 miles away from each other so just popping by to look at it isn't practical.
