Talking Cup holder passanger side

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL
I have been working on a few mostly little issues on the New To Me 2000 ML 320. I finally bucked up and tore in to the leaks that were coming from the sunroof drains. I had tried to water flush and air blow out,, No luck. Now I have cut about 10 in. off the drain line and mated up clear poly down and through the inner hole then on down to the bottom of the outter fender. The rubberish ell through the inner fender would clog because the outflow opening that seemes vaginal in design caught all rotting debris and alllowed that compost to set up like a cement plug. MB engineered that master piece to terminate at the inner panel behind the fender and about 2 ft up to just spew out then down and out the bottom.
So the 1 issue that is seemingly a small one but my OCD drives me crazy to look at it. I could just start prying apart the interior but thought I would ask who has had my issue and was able to fix or replace if necessary.
The cup holder in the front lower dash on the passanger side will not catch when raised to the "closed" position. It stays open all the time and seems to be on track travels well and not loose etc. just won't catch at the top of the closed position Any input welcomed. A step by step fix would be appreciated and you will be placed in a drawing for a Bunch of Bucks as soon as I hit the Power Ball.
Thank in advance DT

I've also had the skyroof drain issues on each side, in my 2000 ML320 - the left hand (passenger side) problem was similar to yours with the A pillar down tube detaching and with some fiddling managed to fix it by making a funnel from electrician's heat shrink tube, shrunk on to a lathe-turned former, which has worked now for nearly ten years. On the right hand side, the A pillar down tube seems to have become detached behind the head lining, and so far I have stalled on fixing it as I found that all I need to do is to park 2" uphill and it doesn't leak.... I also had an issue with the cupholder (right hand side) but I think it was just a tiny screw that had got lost, and that was an easy fix to replace. Other issues include needing to sort the heating air vent blend gates which are a bit sticky, but livable with, it just goes from cold to hot in one go, but to the back seats, it blends the heat properly. Otherwise, all the 'big three' warning lights are on, and for some reason the car drives far better on-road without the Mercedes Super Nanny in operation, so I haven't worried too much about the various failed sensors... The only real problem with the car is between my wallet and the petrol pumps... If V Power 99 was free, I would just spend all day driving the car.... : )

That "Petrol Price" issue ain't great but compared to my Ford F150 with 10 mpg on a good day and the ML at 18 or better hwy. I'm in the black on that deal. Then there is my Harley at 39 mpg and thats with a cam chest upgrade that makes it "Fly" then theres a couple draw backs, rain, snow which I have driven in on the scooter but at my advancing age it not as plesant in those conditions.
My local favs. for gas is BP hi-test white gas 93 oct. is now under 4.00 a gallon, then we have Quality Plus nonethonol 93 oct. and that stuff is great. Their stores are not on every corner, the closest ones are N S E &W and off the beaten path but the price is in the near 4.00 or less range. The ML loves that non ethonol 93 so I try to use it any time I'm near those stations.
What is the easiest way to get into the back of that cup holder. I may have that same issue of missing screw but I don't want to tear out more than necessary to get to it. I know that may sound lazy but between all the vehicles here I have to maintain every short cut saves me time I need to spend with my Sweetheart. Thanks
