Water leak and extended activity module issues

Hello all,

i am the recent owner of a 2002 ML55 and I’ve been having a few issues with water leakage and angry electronics. Every time it rains, I have water sitting in the passenger side floor mat. Was simply wondering if anyone else has had this issue and how to fix it.

Secondly, and it may be connected to the water leak the instrument cluster displays the esp and bas, ets, airbag off, srs, and parking brake light while driving. Sometimes the lights will turn off and I can test that the parking brake sensor is working properly. So it has moments of the angry electrical where the lights are on, and the moments of working properly. I pulled the codes for the all activity module with no fault codes being read and the codes for the extended activity module with a bad can bus connection for the instrument cluster and trip computer. I’ve tried looking for where the eam is located with no luck.

any help is appreciated

Is the EAM in the overhead console, where the trip computer displays? There's certainly a module there with the trip computer display, it houses the tilt/tow sensor...

My 2000 ML320 started showing the same symptom of water leak in passenger footwell...the carpet gets wet...I confirmed, the water is not touching electronics in my case..and I have no electronics issues....I parked the car up a driveway so that rain water would roll backwards, and sure enough the passenger footwell is not getting any water, but I have a small drip in my trunk now from the roof from near the trunk light.

I have been researching this issue for some time, and it seems, the drain pipes from the roof (they usually open in the sunroof cutout and run down the A and C pillars down behind the wheel wells....are clogged, most likely on all 4 sides...front and rear, left and right...

I unfortunately, have a lamella sky view roof that stopped working few years ago...so I am not daring to open it...I am now looking for a sunroof specialist shop to deal with this.

The roof drains all need to be checked and cleaned on all 15+ year old MLs...it seems..they are all suffering from this problem.

If anyone has found a solution, please share...

I see you have gotten no response. I hope you figured it out by now.

I have a 2002 ML500 with the same problem. Water on the floor on the passenger side.

If you havent figure it out yet, pull down the headiner at the passenger corner where it meet the A-pillar. There is a sunroof drain and hose. My hose had disconnected from the drain. I simply reconnected it and ziptied it to cinch it down a little to make it stay. I also blew air through it clear any obstruction.

I am currently seeking people who have had the issue with the clooged drain tubes for a class action suit against Mercedes. The thread is here: https://mbworld.org/forums/general-m...ain-tubes.html

If you got this resolved (or not) I would love to hear about your experience.
