ML in limp mode

ML in limp mode
Hi
My engine management light came on today and the car ML 250 2014 has gone into limp mode. I’ve also noticed I can’t use manual mode via the paddles. I guess this is to protect the box.
i can still change from S & E but just have no power and the car holds first & second gear a lot longer than it should.
Any thoughts would be most appreciated. I’m currently in London (drove up today) and need to get back home to Devon tomorrow.
