There really aren't any issues with newer ML's. They are very reliable.

Beginning from MY05, the free maintenance program was stopped.

You'll have your complementary first service and, I believe, you don't go in until 13K miles later for A service. There's really not much to worry about with MY05 MLs. Most surveys rank the 04 and 05s very well. There are a few bad apples, but that's usual. Drive through the break-in period as recommended in manual, make sure you activate TeleAid (the SOS button on the overhead console), visit this and other ML forums often for tips, advice and complaints. Enjoy the ride.

Hi,

has anybody reach to the point of the extended warrenty?

and iam worrying about the mcs system stop working when the battery goes died or run out of power,

i try to find code but it not in the owner manual or in the mcs manual,

the dam dealer won't give me the mcs code without presenting driver license and registration,

is there any other way to get the mcs code?

and passed the xtended warranty period with varying degrees of worries. Some with no problem at all and others thank God they decided to purchase xtra warranty coverage.

Regarding the MCS malfunctioning, I believe most will agree that the MCS is probably one of the more reliable components on the ML. And YES, the dealer will not (and should not!!!) give you the MCS code if you can't prove either ownership of the vehicle or some kind of relationship to vehicle owner. The MCS code should have been given to you when you purchased the truck. Is this truck yours??? Why don't you just present your DL and get the code?? It sounds like you're attempting to do something you shouldn't be doing here. What's up Mr. ml350?? spit out your secret now!!!

Here's my take, purely subjective. Take it with a pinch of salt. If you are a repeat MB buyer from the same dealership, chances are you will get the 's glove treatment! You are golden. (especially if you had a high end models, present or past) or you develop a certain relationship with the service mgr.

Who is this guy? These questions seem frivolous and repetetive. Oh well, I know we're here to help...

Speaking of frivolous, what is the MCS code? What do we need it for?

My '05 ML350 has just turned 2000mi. Took it in for the free initial visit - no problems. The truck seems to "surge" forward under mild brake pressure (like the idle speed is too high). Took it back for evaluation and was told there is a "software update" that will fix this. (Satrunstyl, do you have an opinion?) Dealer did the update - runs great now. Check for the update for your new ML350 also just in case. Enjoy your ride!

my opinions for the newbie

My '02 has a factory extended warranty. As much as I love the beast, at 46k miles I wouldn't be able to sleep at night without the warranty. In fact, it would be gone. I have had a lot of stuff go wrong, and the '02 is pretty much the same as the '05, except for the new model engine. Keep that in mind.

Great points about knowing your SA; mine is a lot better than the techs that work on it, and I am a very long-term customer. I have received every break in the world on warranty issues, and I have had a lot of them. But most of us get complimentary valet, and there are worse things than driving a C240 for a couple of days.

Even if it weren't your nature to treat people with respect, and even if you are smarter than your SA, their decisions can cost or save your thousands. Don't believe me?, try acting like a pompous jerk, then compare your results with mine, over time. The gremlins will attack, and your SA will either be your advocate or just someone to add the numbers up.

Good luck.

There are ME control unit flashes for virtually every model now since '03. Its kind of a catch all repair. It doesn't specifically address what you describe, but they have always been known to fix more glitches than they list... When we just don't know, or there isn't a specific fix, we generally flash the ME and let it ride.
