I lived with bad squeal when I first purchased my current ML. After several attempts to correct the problem unsuccessfully MB came out with a new part # pad and this made it lots better. Now it only does it in very cold weather untill the brakes warm up. However, with yours I would imagine that you would have the new type pads from the factory so I do not know what to tell you except to persist with your dealer to correct the situation

Replacing all pads and rotors is the best solution. If you have less than 12 months or 12K miles on your ML, then it will likely be covered by warranty, unless the parts are severely worn.
There are new pads for the front as of Dec. 17th, however they are in a critical supply situation. Give them a month or so to get a good supply on hand before attempting to have this resolved. This will ensure you get the latest parts which are *supposed* to fix this issue.
ML 500's are HELL on rotors, you will likely find the surfaces heavily grooved. I have yet to see one that didn't need rotors, including my own at 9500 miles.

Saturnstyl, mine only has 800 miles on the ODO. I have a 1K check-up coming up and they'll address the problem then. I'll wait for the new pads if I have to. the rotors, those massive disks, are fine. My suspicion is that they'll replace all pads and rotors, but I'll make sure they give me the option to wait for the new part - I can live with the squeal until the new parts arrive.
