Anyone know a good subwoofer location in ML with 3rd row to preserve maximum cargo space? I need the 3rd row and cargo space as I constantly doing road trip with families.
I seem one from previous post where a sets of speaker is build into the rear hatch to the opening for First Aids kits and Tool kits but would there be enough space there to woofer to works freely?

I'm in the same situation as you, having 3 babies under 3yo--we really need that third row plus the extra space for diaper bags, stroller and such.
Anyway, we installed an entertainment system in our 04ML350 which included a DVD system and an extra sub which we placed under the second row bench. Our installer has a custom shop and he built the cabinets to fit exactly under the 2nd row bench. He even covered it with the same material as the seats so that it looks factory installed. There's a lot of room under there for a sub, DVD player, and inverter--there's even room left over for my son's toys and *****.
hope that helps...

hecdog,
MY ML500 do come with subwoofer but its just not punchy(weak) enough for my taste. I can not fit it under the second row seat due to I occationally do carry big bulky item that require to fold/flatten the 2nd row and remove the 3rd.
Good suggestion tho but I need that particular space, thanks.

Can you take some pics of the back of the ML with third row seat in place... Also I dunno who you checked out with the multi speakers in the rear but if you look at my sound domain site I have one in the rear that doesnt take too much space up...
If you take multiple pictures for me to look at the space Ill come up with some design for you... Would you want a removable unit for when you do carry heavy items it could be disconnected?
Also how much extra bass are you looking for? That determines how big your sub should be... what type of music do you listen to most? And I can design it for a sub that would suit your listening preferences...

55fanatic,
I check out your design from the link. Its very nice, if I don't have my CD change in the passenger side rear panel. I believe there are tools and other eletronic service part from MB in the Driver side rear side panel as well.
I would like to have a removable system if that is the only way to go but a build in one would look to be more professional in mind opinion.
I mostly listen to Heavy Metal and Rock by myself, but most of the time I'm with wife and kids and they listen to Pop and soft rock. hopefull these information helps.

Also I would suggest a 10" sub... between heavy metal and pop music a 10" would fit both music types of music pretty well. If you take some pictures I can come up with some ideas for you...
