Horsepower Differences
Anyone know why the ML engines (320, 430, 500) have slightly less HP then the same engines in comparable Mercedes sedans?? Only thing I can figure is the exhaust system in the ML's may have a higher back pressure thus limiting power.
They are not trying to cut your power.
They change the setting in the chip and pump up the torqe,
In this change we have to trade in our HP.
This is a truck, torqe is more important then HP.
Go for a bigger engine if you think HP is what you asking for (That's ME

I did not think they were trying to "cut" the power. Just more or less curious. I agree that torque is important. However, do not believe that HP can be traded for torque with a chip change. This can be done with a cam, or valve timing change.
different lengths
The intakes in the other cars are different lengths and the other cars with more hp also have a longer/different exhaust which gives the the additional oomph.

Thats about what I figured, has to external engine "accessories" that create the different power ratings. Did not know that the intakes were different but I assumed the exhaust systems had something to do with it. Thanks!!
