EPA mileage estimates posted
MBUSA has added the mileage estimates to the web site.
ML350 - 16 / 20; ML500 - 14 / 19.
The 16 / 20 compares to 17 / 21 on my '98. Of course it had 25% less power and a couple hundred pounds less weight. Still, an improvement on the '05 350 at 15 / 18.
If I'm not mistaken, aerodynamics do not figure into the equation since the tests are done statically, so maybe that will count for something in real life.

25.1 gallon fuel tank
I like the large tank--may achieve 500 mile range. This is made possible by the elimination of the 3rd row seat provision. The capacity includes a 3.4 gal reserve.
For comparison:
2006 ML - 25.1 g.
Acura MDX - 20.4 g.
BMW X3 300i - 17.7 g.
BMW X5 3.0i & 4.4i - 24.3 g.
Jeep Grand Cherokee - 20.5 g.
Land Rover LR3 - 22.8 g.
Lexus RX330 - 19.2 g.
Volvo XC90 T6 - 18.9 g.
Volvo XC90 V8 - 21.1 g.
Lexus GX 470 - 23.0 g.
Porsche Cayenne S - 19.1 g.
VW Touareg V8 - 26.4 g.
