Leather Seats only with the Premium Package?
Does it sound ridiculous to anyone else that you have to get a $5-6k package in order to get fully leather seats which are standards on many other SUVs, including those not viewed as prestigious as the Mercedes.

Yes, I fully agree - with Greg that it's a nice thing that you can avoid having leather if you don't like it (provided you don't want a 500), and with Jangjiman and Thinking that it's completely weird that MB offers the 500 as standard (and the 350 as an option) with partial leather - in fact only a smallish part of the FRONT seating surface is leather. The rest, including 100% of the rear seat is "man-made leather" or MBTex. That really doesn't seem necessary.
