How much did you pay for your 2006 ML????
#26
I notice the prices quoted here only seem to cover the base and the main option packs.
I put mine together and ended up with an addional $1000 bucks just on:
iPod Integration Kit, Roof Spoiler, Mudflaps, wheel Locks, Loading Sill Protector
Is everyone including these in their quoted price or are you going to buy these later?

I can get the car about 12-13% below msrp.
I guess it pays to work at DaimlerChrysler

$1700 under invoice (before taxes, $40.5k vs. 44.7k MSRP and what they
showed me as invoice of $42.2). But that IRG participation got me. It did
not show on CARS.COM and I was excited (and tired) after negotiating to
get to this point, that I just gave up trying to figure it out (really wanted
the car and $500 was close enough).
Got it at Smythe in San Jose. Great sales guy. He stuck it through and
just would not give up. Lightly equiped with Trim package, Sunroom pckg
Heated Seats.
No one told me about a $500 gas card though! I bought mine on memorial
day, so perhaps it was an later promo. Any details you guys can provide,
please...

got snowed on the IRG participation. Did not realize what it meant and
only after reading these posts did I figure it out.

2007 Porsche Turbo Cabriolet
I have just bought a ML500 in the Uk with most of the option boxes ticked for £58,390.02. The Sat Nav is rubbish , so I am having an Alpine system fitted in parallel with the existing system plus TV, DVD and rear screens in the headrests for £3,700.00.
I have today had MB side protection bars and steps fitted which look cool.

is the 7% holdback confirmed?
I thought the holdback is 3%? if we know for sure it's 7% then we have a better bargaining power. 7% holdback + 6% MSRP/invoice difference, that's 13% to work with there.

My location is in my profile, posted in every message Where are you located?
I plan to call around to the other 2 local dealers tomorrow to compare prices. Won't visit, just use the information I have from my dealer to confirm the deal. $2k under is a great deal, if you're in the DC area, send me the # of your dealer

I'm in the bay area. What I would recommend is just call every dealer around you and look for the fleet manager and ask " can you do $X amount under invoice" if they ask you how you came up with the number, just tell them about their secret 7% holdback

Or is it calculated from a different dollar amount?
We're getting ready to purchase a new '06 ML500 here in Vegas before the end of Dec. Just want to have my facts accurate before I use it to bargain with.
Thanks.

Your talking about a "secret" 7% holdback is wishful thinking. The normal holdback is 3-3 1/2%. The balance of your 7% is provided to the dealers based on a lot of factors and goes to the dealer directly...there is no way he will use this to discount the car in my estimation. He doesn't even know the actual figure that figure will be until later in the quarter.
Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

I must say we were pleasantly surprised with the service when we did the initial look/test drive. This is compared to the pretentious attitude we got from other dealers in town (BMW, Porsche, Lexus), go figure...

They are just hard to negotiate with.. be persistent but pleasant. I dealt with Alan Catley (an Englishman) and he is very sharp. If you don't have a salesperson, go to him and tell him I referred you because he was fair and would provide you a good price. My S was a last of the model so I was able to get maybe a little more out of them but you should be able to get your car for a little over invoice maybe. Are you buying stock or ordering? If you are buying stock you may have a little more leverage.
Good luck....

I'm currently in the market for an ML350 with the following configuration:
06 ML350
Pewter Metallic
Ash Interior
Premium Package
Air Suspension Package
Comfort Package
Lighting Package
Entertainment Package
Sunroof Package
18" 5-Double Spoke Alloy Wheels
Heated Front Seats
Rear Side Airbags
MSRP $55,925
Invoice $52,067
I was quoted a price of $53,550 from an area dealer, do you think that is a good deal considering this would have to be ordered? I had dealers quoting me prices of $300 below invoice for in stock vehicles...
Also, I had another dealer tell me that they can't quote me a price since it has to be ordered because the price may change 3 months later when the vehicle is delivered due to differing market conditions and that any quote I get from other dealers will not stick and will surely change when the vehicle is delivered (I thought it was a load of bull). Does that make sense to anyone? Who would order a vehicle if they did not know for sure how much they would be paying??? For anybody here that has ordered a vehicle, how long did it take? I'm getting answers ranging from 2 months to 3-4 months.
Thanks.
