ML Memory Seat Function

Just purchased an 06 ML 350 with memory seat package. Owner's manual states that 3 different seat memory settings can be programmed with each smart key which would indicate that the memory settings are "key dependent". In other words, I should be able to set up 3 different settings (memory positions 1, 2 or 3) per key and the vehicle should recognize when each specific key is inserted into the ignition.

Therefore, if I set my settings on memory position 1 with my key inserted and do the same with my wife's key, the vehicle should be able to recognize which key is being used and adjust to position 1 for that particular key.

Obviously this is not the case and my dealer has indicated that the owner's manual may be in error. Does anyone have a better explanation for this or understand my dilemma?

I am going to pursue this with my dealer. There is some documentation that seems to support this ability:

Greg, My SA at my dealership seems to think that the Key dependency is turned off on my ML500 and all that needs to be done is to have it turned on. According to him this should give me the key recognition to place the seat in the correct position for each key re the easy exit feature. I know that you had mentioned that this feature is not on the ML, but we will see when I have the opportunity to take mine in for its post delivery inspection. Please let me know what your guy says. Have your gas card yet?? Also, so far not one fault!!

I'm guessing this doesn't work with Keyless Go?

If it works with the SmartKey it should also work with KeylessGo.

Sorry .... all copyright material has been removed from my website.

Probably the software has not been activated in diagnostic.

ML 500, John Deere tractor
Our driver's seat got amnesia. I've read where this was a common problem on some of the other MBs. I haven't taken it in yet. Anyone else having this problem on their 350 or 500?
