brake issue

just started happening a couple of days ago. i was putting the car in Reverse to back out of a park space, and while i was stepping on the brake getting ready to put the car in Drive, the brake pedal didn't come up. the brake pedal just stayed in the down position. this has also happened today when i was at a stop light and when i let go of the brake to get ready go gas the car in Drive, the pedal still stayed down, but once i stepped on the gas, the brake pedal came up immediately. any ideas? i took the car for the 1000-3000 mile check up already, car has 3400 miles.

Mine does this when on a slight hill, i thought this was normal but would be interested in anyone else's comments.

As yours does, the pedal stays down until you press the throttle but mine only does it on a hill.

My understanding is it is supposed to do that. I think they call it "Hill Assist" here in Aussie. It is a hill start program.
