navigation problem
i dont know if this is normal or if my nav unit is broken....
when i type " walmart" or any other place it gives me 1 destination and it will be in tx, or tennessee, or etc. thats fine but i live in raleigh NC!!!
specifically, ill go to point of interest, and then instead of using one of their categories ill just type what i want.
is this normal or is my nav unit messed up??
i took it to the dealership and noone could help me.
the service person is 'loking into it" and the sales person says its a glitch in the DVD and not the nav.
i would like to get an idea of your nav units and if they display the closest place and also if they give you options, (ie. 4 walmarts in the area.)before i go back to the dealership and demand another unit..

When entering POIs there is a place to make the location to the nearest city before you begin typing. If the system knows where you are (green satellite icon) your city will be the top one listed, choose it, then type in your POI name.

when i enter POI's there is NO area that even remotely states nearest location or anything that would resemble such an option.
when i enter POI's it immediately gives me all the categories with the MB dealership first. on the Left of the screen it gives the soft button where i can type the name of the place.
i have had the sales person and 2 techs try to find the neares walmart, radio shack or target and all the results are in another state.
please let me know where i enter the info of nearest location, etc.
the only time i see that is if i press one of the generic categories.

2005 ML owners i really need your help with this one.
the dealership said that my navigation is working normal and it will only show major shoppng centers. you have to type in the address and not the name in order to get the correct location.
if anyone could just go to POI, press the "name" soft button on the Left,and type in wal mart or target and see if the results are in your area i would really appreciate it.
if i have to type in the address to every destination then this navigation is useless.....

Dunno. On mine, I type in Walmart, it lists a bunch of walmarts beginning with the one it senses closest to me. I can move over and click the "city" button and change it to another city if I want to and it will show Walmarts closest to that one. If I am in the garage where the satellites are not being received, then I do get the walmart in california as the first one. Are you sure you are receiving good satellite signals when you are entering your destination?
