ML 350-Black=Sold. New 08 C300 4Matic, Black/Black, P1, Ipod, Auto7speed, 10/10 hit 100,000 miles
I tried with and without sidebars and I liked it better without them. The sidebars are almost even with the sills and sort of get in the way of getting out of the vehicle.

They're probably going to be my first upgrade. All my previous SUVs had running boards and I've always thought they looked naked without them. I never used them (except to dry off the top of the vehicle) but I typically date short chicks and they always used them. Even so, I've always considered them a cosmetic enhancement rather than a practical one.

I like what I see from the MB website but I wish I could see a pic of the whole vehicle with the sidesteps rather than just the sidesteps on the vehicle. I think MB made a good choice going with sidesteps rather than running boards. My dealer quoted me 3hrs at $100/hr for the install.

I found a 2006 ML with sidesteps on eBay with lots of pictures. I downloaded all of the pictures with sidesteps. Since I don't own the pics, I don't know the legality of posting them here. But if you want to see the pics, search for 2006 ml500 on ebay.

However, I do see ShoremNJ's point... perhaps it's the color of the vehicle or the fact that it looks like he took the pics at dusk, but I'm not sure if I like them. My ML is black so I'll play around with photoshop and see what it looks like on a black vehicle. I also see your point about being almost even with the sills and getting in the way.

Sidestep rails

There are pics in this thread on the "other" forum, included one I posted. BTW, they're polished stainless, not chrome.
