Hi,

I bought a plain ML about seven months ago and the car did not have the standard roof rails. about a week or so I purchased the standard roof rails from the dealer.

The dealer told me it was very expensive to install them around $800 just for installation.

I am planning on adding the roof rails purely for the looks of the car. I have no intention on placing any weight or tying anything on them.

Does anyone have an idea of how can I install them on to my car?? some kind of special glue or tape???

I don't know what's involved but that sounds really high. I was quoted $300 (3 hrs) for the sidesteps. Call another dealer and see what they quote.

You really can't use glue or the like if you want them to stay on. $800 is not bad considering whats involved, headliner removal, replacement, drilling the correct holes, reinforcing the area. Why on earth did you buy one without the rails??
