Well, mine actually stinks for the first few seconds then goes away. I had the same problem on my C220. They say it is normal, some people solved it and others did not.
The dealer had to stay with the car for a few mornings to smell for himself. Somehing to do with water accumulating on the air hoses.
I just got used to it. When they try to fix the same thing a few times they end up messing something else, so I just quit.

Just messing. There is a TSB on this for other models, maybe it can help you? The description is moldy smell. If that is what you got, then give it a shot. Personally, I don't want my dash torn apart for something that is minor for me. You decide.
