Controlling Radio Presets from Steering Wheel

Hello,

We purchased a new (2006) ML 350 recently. Our vehicle has the Harmon-Kardon package, CD Changer, and Factory Nav. One thing we can't figure out is how to program the buttons on the sterring wheel so that we can access our pre-set radio stations. When the button on the steering wheel is pressed, the radio simply scans all radio stations rather than only the presets. Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Also, regarding the nav, is there a way to show the arrival time on the "main" map screen? Our old ML would show the arrival time with the map; the new nav seems to make you hit a "details" button to get the arrival time.

Lastly, we are considering installing the iPod ingtegration kit; I've heard positive and negative...has anyone installed it in this specific vehicle? Thanks in advance for any comments.

Do not believe there is a way to access the presets from the wheel. I do not have the IPod kit in my ML but do have it on my E Class. Its great and I like it, and, am considering having it put into the ML. Re the nav, the detail screen is the way to do this. What I miss is the actual miles to go to destination. The time to go is a guess based upon current speed which will of course vary

MB deleted the setting to choose whether you want to seek stations or scan presets when they began using the MOST-based electronic systems. My 03 C230 has the option, but I know the newer C's and my ML doesn't have that option. Rediculous, I know!

This has been a long standing problem in the E, with no upgrade in sight. There is even an option in Star Diagnose that allows you to enable this feature, but it does not work. I was schocked when I drove the ML and still couldn't do this.

Hi Ken,

I have ipod interface kit in my UK ML (320CDi) and it works fine. Menus are controlled from 'telephone' buttons on steering wheel from which you can access major menus i.e. from shuffle whole library to accessing playlists, recently played etc. etc.

I've had no problems whatsoever.

Cheers,

station presets
You saved me a post. I too just picked up an ML350 and would prefer to scroll through my presets (as I could with my C32) rather than "seek". I assumed I just hadn't found where to do that.
