BMW X5 - anyone owned this car ?

With the new X5 coming this fall,
there are some really attractive specials on the current X5....looking to buy a good daily driver within the next few months , but maybe its better to wait until the new one releases ? ( been hit with the new model depreciation with my ML, so hoping to be on the other end of the down for once)

Any one have any experience about these cars can give me some advice, my concerns are

* good economy
my ml500 gets 14 mpg, hoping the 3.0 x5 has alot better economy, any one have any experience ?

* reliability
cost to own, expensive repairs, any bad experiences ? Are the Toyotas better?

2006 BMW 330i Sport 6 Speed
I had a 2003 X5 3.0 with the sport package and really it liked for a few months until I grew tired of the sport suspension. Too stiff for daily driving in my opinion.

It is realiable and comes with free 4 years 50K mile maintenance...includes everything...brake pads, filters ect....

I averaged about 17mpg ....if I remember correctly.

I'm hoping to pick up a 2007 ML500 next year. Always fun to try something different!

X5 is better than W163. If you are looking for good deal, you should go for X5 even it will change model next year(End of this year?!) You won't buy a first year BMW anyway, there is a lot of problem.
Why don't you go for a W164? It is a great car, 7 speed will save you a bit of petrol.

The only reason the new 7 speed saves petrol is because the car will LIVE in the shop. It is hard to put any miles on it when it just sits
