I would imagine real-world would be better than my w163 ml500 14mpg, as 7G and the new 350 motor has to be making some sort of difference..ope so anyway

2006 ML350, silver, appearance pkg, ent. pkg, MR pkg, heated seats.
15 MPG, mostly city
A bit dissappointing, considering we don't drive aggressively. Have 3500 miles on car.

I've averaged 19.8 for 4500 miles. Most of my driving is highway but it's LA rush hour highway so slow and go most of the time. Best mileage on a 50 mile trip to work was 24.9 (it's slightly downhill). Best milage going home was 21.1. I do notice there is a sweet spot for mileage, and it's around 50~60mph on the highway. When I cruise at my more normal 80mph I get about 20mpg. All in all the mileage is very average for a SUV. Considering this thing weighs as much as my wifes Durango I'm not surprised it's only average. Even the best "real" SUVs are only rated around 24mpg.
It's a SUV! You don't buy them for the fuel economy.....
