HID Conversion

Anyone converted their halogen lights to HIDs? If so, what brand did you use? Did you install it yourself? If so, care to give me some tips.

I bought one in ebay when I was driving C-class. It was very good when first installed. But it became darker and darker after few months.
So I am still looking for a good kit for my new ML.
Anyway, you need to go to dealer to turn on Xenon. Not many dealers know and they don't want to do it for you even they know.

What do you mean by this?
I plan to install the conversion kit myself. I did it on my Lexus and it wasn't that hard. I haven't invetsigated how to do it on my ML, but will it be difficult?

You can try to search from this forum to know more.
The light will turn on and off.
Your car computer will 'think' it may have problem of the bulb and turn the light off because halogen light is 55W and HID is 35W.
You need to go to dealer to turn on Xenon for your car computer.
Mercedes is a very smart car, the computer control everything. It worth money to pay for, doesn't like Lexus, a Toyato rename and ask more money.

Thanks
Kevin

This is what the conversion kit is for. It includes two ballasts, igniters, and the necessary wiring harness to connect to the stock output. All for around $450. I'm looking at the Phillips brand which is OEM for most German cars with HIDs. Some kits have the igniters in the ballasts. It's purpose is to convert the 55w to 35w. As long as I can connect the HID kit wiring harness to the stock harness, and install the H7 HID bulbs in place of the stock bulbs, it should work. I wouldn't have to go to any dealer to get anything turned on. It will not be bi-xenon, but the lowbeams will be HIDs. I don't know if there will be an error message. I will research that. But I think this is possible.
