The dealer or shop that performed the service should do it as part of the service. From what I understand on the W164 it must be done by someone with the Star diagnostic system such as any dealer.

What about the rest of the service beyond the oil change??? Who did that?? You should have done everything but then again you most likely do not know what to look for re the inspection. Believe you must go to a dealer to have it reset guess you will have to spend a few bucks that be be traumatic for you!

I think there may be a way, but I don't have the info. off hand.

I had mine done at the dealer recently (13k mi.), ant there were 4 Service Campaigns for updates on my vehicle that they performed. Even if you do your own oil changes, it is good to have the dealer's service department run your VIN to see if there are outstanding updates.

I let the dealer do the scheduled maintenance to establish a good relationship with the service department. They treat you better when warranty work is needed if they know you. I do the in-between oil changes on my own.
