Aluminum Running Boards

Long time lurker, and finally made the plunge yesterday and ordered an ML500 (Verde Brook w/ Premium Package, Airmatic and Running Boards). I'm excited to recieve it, but the dealer here in Canada seems to think that the running boards are the side-step bars. I pointed him to the mbusa.com site to show him the actual picture when you try to BYO auto and we both agree that it should be the one shown on the site. The problem is that the mbcanada doesn't list side-step bars as an option, only the the running boards, and the manager seems to think I'll be getting the bars instead (which I definitely don't want).

Can anyone else in Canada confirm that the running boards are the same as the ones offered in the States?

Can't confirm it but think twice about any running boards. I tried one with them and banged my ankle every time I got in plus in the winter with snow and ice they are real slippery with the build up on them. I for one would not have them as they actually make getting in and out very awkward and with out them its not a problem

To be honest with you, I have currently have them on my X5 and have never actually used to them to get in and out of the truck. They are purely cosmetic and I think the only timke I've used them is when I'm washing the top of the truck.
