2007 ML Homelink Problems

Has anyone else had problems with the Homelink garage door opening system on the 2007 ML? It has nothing to do with the garage door itself as it works just fine with my other Mercedes. If I'm lucky, I might be able to open the garage door if I'm with a foot of it; usually it doesn't do anything. I've reprogrammed all three buttons on several occasions with no effect. Right now, my MB dealership has swapped out the mirror assembly and still no improvement.

I'd be interested in relaying any comments to my dealership for troubleshooting so I can get this fixed.

Thanks.

Glenn

Maybe it's a Mercedes thing. I currently have an '05 E320 and I think my homelink is very weak also. I can open it from further than a foot away, but I definitely have to be in my driveway. Before the E320 I had a '02 Chevy Trailblazer and its homelink would open the door from down the street.

I noticed a drastic change between my 02 ML and my 06 ML. The range of operation was greatly reduced with the newer car.

Mine works from two houses away but I've got two separate garage doors and one's a lot more finicky than the other (same brand). I have to hold the button down until I see the garage door open (probably 2-3 times longer than the included remote).

The other garage door only works from 1 car length away but it's been like that with every car I've owned (even though the included remote works from much greater distance). But then, I've only owned German cars so who knows. Perhaps it's your garage door opener.

Do you have the P3 package? Included with the 3-zone climate control is infrared reflecting glass. It significantly attenuates the signal unless the vehicle is angled v the garage receiver so that the signal can pass through the areas for EZ pass or radar detector to the left and right of the mirror. I can also operate it from 100 feet away when the vehicle is perpandicular to the garage. The signal will pass through the side glass.

E500:

Thanks for the messages, to which I replied on the Electronics sub forum.

I appreciate the insight.
