Transmission Problems

My year old (5,000 miles) 2006 just started lunging/surging as the transmission down shifts coming to a stop.

I googled ML350 and transmission and found thousands of articles about problems with these transmissions.

What is going on?

Brian

There are a bunch of TSB's on this problem. Take it to the dealer. It may be as simple as a software upgrade flash. It could also entail changing out the valve body. Either way, it should be covered under warranty.

Yeah, mine was doing this after 1 week of driving. Mercedes knows about this problem on this transmission (and other problems that I had, not too mention MANY). For me, they had to change the valve assembly (after several attempts of other things which wasted so much of my time). So, take it to the dealer and have them fix the problem!

ML 350 -06
I have ML 350 -06 and the tranny software was just updated. Now it seems that it works fine, but as the jerky shifting didn't occur all the time so let's give couple of weeks to see if the update really helped.

my old 2006 had this problem and then went in for the software update and also the valve body exchange. that fixed everything.
