known problems for the ML?
We are looking in getting a new 4wd and currently evaluating between RR Sports, ML350/500 and BMWx5.
Are there any known problems with the ML? I had a 05 Cayenne S that had a few electrical problems and airsuspension faults and wouldn't want to go through the same ordeal.

A160(Sold) C180(Sold), ML320(Dead! Sold) CDi, R300 CDi
i had my ML320 CDi for more than 8 months and drive it over 15000km.
So far no problem. Only one problem was running out of engine oil, I bought 2L to refill it.

My ML320 CDI SE has 14k miles on the clock, NO problems to date (touch wood), its excellent and the merc dealer is really trying hard so the customer service is loads better than 3 years ago when i owned a ****e ML270CDI.
I tested all 4x4s and settled on the ML cause it was so much more refined than the RRsport, and i simply hate the X5.. The RRsport i initially tested had 5miles on the clock so was brand new, at 21miles the airbag warning light came on, so i took it back and didnt even keep it for the weekend. my uncle has been in recently and they still have it as a demo and the airbag light is still on! Guy told him that they cant get rid of it! JESUSSSS

I had problems about 5000 miles for my 2006 ML350. I don't drive my car rough at all. I have been to the dealer several times.
1. Transmission shift 2 to 1 rough - 3 times to dealer until they changed the transmision valve assembly (known problem with ML)
2. Brake sluggish - 2 times to dealer. They changed the master cyliner.
3. Temperature gauge read 183 degrees constantly. They took the front fender and replaced the wiring.
4. Coolant level reading incorrect (always saying LOW) - Dealer reprogrammed it.
5. Tires uneven wear - they changed the tires TWICE. They have not fixed the problem yet.
I guess I am one in a few. I wonder when does the Lemon Law applies?
