TPMS part #

Does anybody know -- or have access to looking up -- the TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) sensors for a 2007 ML 350? I need the #s for the sensors and the valve stem, if available.

Thanks in advance!

ShoremNJ 04-04-2007 07:07 PM

It works off the rotation of the wheels, the stems are standard stems.

sensor part no. 002-540-6617
stem standard 000-400-3213
AMG 19" and 20" stem 001-401-2713

Thanks Sunman!

Shore -- FYI the 164 chassis takes physical sensors.

where can i buy some tpms?....besides the dealership. I need spare tire pressure monitors for my s550.

thx

try tirerack. They carry the older beru 315mhz sensors however the s550 uses siemens sensors.

Or you can try Steve @ MBenzNL.

BrabusMan --FYI, the '06 sure doesn't take individual wheel sensors.

it doesn't greg, what does it take?

Run Flat Indicator system

Operates off the ABS sensors that compute wheel rotation and sound the alarm when any one wheel is consistently different than the rest.
Per my manual, p. 348, "While the vehicle is being driven, the Run Flat Indicator monitors the set tire inflation pressure by evalutaing each wheel's rotational speed. This allows the system to detect a significant loss of pressure in a tire. If a wheels rotaional speed changes due to falling inflation pressure, you will see a corresponding warning message in the Multifuntion Display. ..."

I'd be interested to see what the 2007 manuals say on this--anyone?

The Run Flat Indicator is for Canada Only in 2007. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System is for the US. Here are the pertinent pages from the 2007 Owner's Manual.

I wonder why they would make that distinction?

BrabusMan 05-11-2007 09:41 AM

Your correct GregW when I said 164 chassis I should have correctly stated that I meant all 07 and up vehicles.

The reason for the distinction between the two is because Canada only requires ABS style monitoring while in the US, all model years 2007 and up require, by Federal law, to have a physical TPMS sensor.

Canada also gets the Advanced Tire Pressure Monitoring System, which we do not get in the US. This Advanced System shows the actual tire pressures in the cluster display. See attached:

Very cool! I was not aware of that. Wish that was an option (or standard!) in the US. I could see that being very helpful.

can the advanced TPMS be implement and installed into a USA spec ml ? also how big of a job would it be

Here's the supplier. Schrader Group was awarded with the contract starting with MY 2007 according to this press release on their site:

@jerseytuffguy:

They seem to offer a retrofit kit according to the info on their site.
