Rattle and squeak

Hi – I need some help before I go to the dealer and like to collect some ideas on my noise problem so I could tell the SA where/what the problem may be/coming from.

We just gotten our ML350 11 days ago and within the first week we have noticed a slight rattle coming from the front passenger side area. The rattle seems to come from either the dashboard housing or from the window frame and starts at speed above 60 mph. It goes away after a minute or two and does not seem to reappear until you let the car site for a while.

The squeaking noise is not that audible and difficult to locate its origin. It seems to happen when you are driving in a turn and hit some uneven surface. It does not seem to come from the suspension though [sounds like it should]… but again difficult to pin point. FYI = no airmatic.

I did a search in the forum but could not find any matching descriptions. Any help or comment appreciated.

Thanks

i had a squeek coming from the center console panel, near the climate control dials. dealer sort of fixed it, although it comes back over uneven roads. try pressing your finger against different parts of the dash to see if you can isolate the noise.

I had something very similar in my 2006 ML320, it started as a slight rattle in the first few weeks that I had the car then progressively got worse. I also thought it was in the passanger side dashboard or door/window frame but it turned out to be a control unit that was loose under the front passenger seat. The dealer properly secured the unit and I havn't had a problem since.
