Resonator delete on ml500

Thinking about removing the resonators on a 2007 ML500 and replacing with straight pipes and an x crossover. Don't expect any real performance gains, just a bit better sounding exhaust. If not satisfied, may then consider a muffler replacement. Have checked lots of posts in other forums and haven't seen it done on this vehicle. Anyone have any recommendation on shops in So Orange County CA? Thanks.

I've done it on my 2000 G500. On the pre-2001 versions it's an easy job, since the crossover pipe from the diesel version is a direct drop in replacement.

No real power improvement that I could detect, but it got a new nickname: "Deep Throat". (Nice sound improvement.)

I have the resonators removed and replaced with straight pipes, along with a BRABUS exhaust on my 07 350. Sounds awesome!!

As far as power is concerned -- nothing noticable, if any at all. But the sound is MUCH worth it!

I had my install shop do it for me -- it is simple to cut the resonator out and simply weld in a new (about 1 ft long) section of pipe. I suspect any muffler shop can do it with ease. Cost me $50.
