Picked up my ML550 last night...

What a sweet car! I'm used to the MLs of old-This one is fabulous compared to them...So refined and friendly, inside and out. Wife is so happy.

I've never seen so many gadgets. The rearview camera reminds me of an airliner camera. I can't think of anything I don't like. It would be nice if the rims were a little more flashy, though-- When the Edition 10 comes out I may do a conversion if the wife approves (Its hers!)

It is so smooth on the road. I won't open her up though until about 1000 miles, but I can sense the big muscle from low revs.

Can anyone please suggest what I should do to "treat" the car, to preserve the paint, interior, etc.? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Regards,

Kurt

Papaya,

Congrats on getting your new ML550! For the paint, I would recommend having a clear film installed. This will prevent the front end from being damaged by rocks, stones or other items found on our roadways. Don't bother with a wax until another 3-4 months. The clear coat will offer enough protection.

As far as the interior, use a good leather cleaner & conditioner every 6-12 months. More frequently if you have kids and/or a pet.

You may to find a local detailing business. I have my car done every 3 months but a through cleaning twice a year.

Regards,
NHman

I'm not sure what is in your area but you may want to search Goggle for 3M or Autobahn Protective Film. The dealer would also have a contact. However, through them there will be added cost due to their margin. But perhaps they can point you in the right direction.

Gene-

As a matter of fact, I did ask the salesguy, and he said it wouldn't be here for another two years(I thought he was BSing me since I was about to by this ML550). He said it wasn't at the int'l auto show, so it won't be anytime soon.

I DO plan to buy the black rims and lights once the 10 comes out. It will look just like one!
