Question Bluetooth Question

a few questions about the MB Bluetooth Module...
1. Does it integrate with the Comand Screen (address book, calls, etc.) or is it visible only on the small display next to the speedometer?
2. Can you have more than one profile? In other words, when my wife drives her phone will connect and when im driving my phone will connect.
3. Can you purchase and install this BT module yourself or does it have to be done by MB Tech?
4. Can you dial using the COMAND keypad?
5. Does the BT system work well? I currently have a bmw with I-Drive which works great and am hoping this sytem is as good.
Thx!

Hi

In answer to your questions, these are my views.

1. Command Integration? It does integrate with the Command screen. However, it takes a while to download all the data from the SIM. It does not read anything from the phone though.

2. Multiple Profiles? Yes, my wife and I both drive this car and whichever phone was last connected, it will pick up or which ever is visible will be connected.

3. Install? No idea as the MB Tech installed it for me when I purchased the car.

4. Can you dial using the COMAND keypad? Yes you can. You can also use the command keypad to search the names etc which is pretty good.

5. Does the BT system work well? The system works quite well but the annoying thing is that after each restart, it will download the whole phonebook from the SIM and this takes a few mins. Why does it not store it in the Command system, I do not know.

Cheers

Raj

1. Yes it integrates with comand perfectly

2. Yes I think you can have up to 5 different phones

3. A blind monkey could install it, it really is easy

4. Yes as above it integrates fully with comand

5. Perssonally I love it and have had no problems whatsoever.

Hope this helps.

Aloha firefighter608 et al.,

What kind of phone are you using with the MB Bluetooth system? I have an iPhone and will be purchasing my new ML350 next month - I am curious as to how well the iPhone integrates with the MB Bluetooth system.

BT Integration

1. Yes - but some features depend upon the phone. My Blackberry 8100 works nearly perfectly. But a Nokia 6210i and an e65 had much less success.
2. I believe so according to the instructions and comments above
3. Yes. I had the UHI module installed and replaced the Nokia 6210i specific cradle with the Bluetooth cradle while idling in the dealers driveway
4. Yes (and handset)
5. Yes (but again it depends upon the phone. My Nokia e65 could make and receive calls, but the address book did not transfer to the COMAND nor did call line identification work)

I only have three mild annoyances when compared to the specific to handset (non BT) cradle

1. You are relying on the handset antenna which is less receptive than the car one so you get more dropouts
2. For a short while after leaving the car the handset still wants to talk bluetooth to the car. So sometimes if I've just left the car and I receive a phone call on the handset I hear nothing and have to wait until I get out of range (10 or 12 yards)
3. You may need a 12v charger for your phone if you want to charge it in the car.

All in all, I'm happy.
