ML550: Experience?

Hey guys, thinking about leasing an 08 ML550.
What are some terms/prices were you able to negotiate down to?

Has anybody removed a resonator and replaced with an Xpipe? This is common on the SLK55. I figured it'd make the exhaust a little louder and burlier...

Any thing I should know before I jump into it? Kind of last minute decision (considered SLK55, M3, 335i, IS350, etc). I had an S2000 then an FX35, and miss both... But maybe SUVs are just easier to drive and fit my lifestyle more right now.

I really wanted a 550 but they are not leasing very well right now. No money down and taxes rolled in you are looking at $850 a month for a p2 equipped.

knock 150 a month off and you are at the 350. I couldn't justify that kind of dough for the extra power - though I would have loved it.

Got my 550 about 2 weeks ago. Black/Black, P3 with leather and a few other goodies on top. Negotiated down to invoice and negotiated on the money factor as well. 33 month lease, 12k/yr with 0.00165 MF, $930/mo, paid about $2k at signing (license/doc/1st mo pmt).

How is it possible to get that MF? The posted MF for the 550 is 0.00310.

What is the residual for 33 months? Is there a special 33 month lease?

Also, I find it very hard to believe any dealer would sell a car at invoice. I'm not too familiar with MB (more familiar with BMW and Audi), is there a dealer holdback on the ML 550? If so, how much?

Any advise on how to get close to invoice pricing?

Thanks.

Its been my experience that MB dealers sell at or close to invoice. In my area starting price is routinely $1000 above invoice. BMW's are priced at about $1000 below MSRP. I don't know how the holdbacks and other incentives work out to this outcome.

The MF is negotiable or seems to be at least. I started at 0.00215. 33 month was the sweet spot on the 550 in terms of residual value. For November, it was 60% at 33mo, but then dropped to 57% at 36mo. I'm not sure what December residuals and MF are.

Thanks for the replies. I'm used to BMW where the MF is not at all negotiable below the buy rate (which the dealers usually mark up 0.0004). I thought the MF posted on this site was the buy rate?

I'm trying to decide between the ML 550 and a RRS SC. Does anyone have any comments either way? Based on the above posts, it appears the ML has the potential to be considerably cheaper.

Does the ML have any offroad capabilities? I'm not looking for crazy offroading, just the occasional dirt/gravel road. What about the ML in snow? (I know, I live in Houston, but we take a lot of road trips to UT, NC, OH, NM, etc.).

Thanks.

ML550 = more luxury and refined interior

RRS SC = mainly the name and a pretty nice look, cheap interior for the money IMO

What exactly is horrible about it? $930/mo including 8.1% tax. Are you kidding?

Theimporter,

Can you give more detail about your lease truck.
Color (ext/int), mileage, date in service, lease terms & pictures.

What are the reasons why you want to get out of your lease?

My wife and I are going to test drive the ML350 on Friday (1/19/08), if she likes the ML350, then we going to lease the ML350 by month end. But I perfer the ML550. (there is a $2000 lease cash for the ML350).

Thanks

Its great in the snow, we had a lot of snow this season and the car has been a delight to drive. I've owned 2 Audi's and this truck is more relaxing to drive in a snow storm - nice being high and secure (in luxury).
