how do i install a 4matic emblem?

the emblem is on a backing tape now, but once i peel it off to expose the adhesive, what will hold the letters??? they will just peel one by one.

use 3/4" masking tape and measure all of your lines on the side w/ the factory emblems then transfer that over to the other side of the tail gate.
Make a measurement from the side to the first letter and then from a body line to the bottom of the letter and make an inverted L shape i/e:

then take another piece of masking tape lay the new emblem flat on a table and run it across the letters and press it down
remove the rear adhesive strip on the back, hold the tape at both ends tightly so they don't flex and place your last letter on the edges of the tape and place the rest down, once down push all of the letters down to make sure they all stick then remove your pieces of tape.
easier then eyeballing it.
