Springs

In your opinion wich springs are better, Eibach, HeR, Brabus or Carlsson? I think Carlsson uses the HeR springs?! I would like to lower my ML320 CDI but I donīt want it too hard, it will have 20" wheels on 265/45-20 tires. Can someone help me with some experience on it.

Hi....I had the same interest in lowering my 06 ML500. Using the search feature will provide you with a great deal of info from past threads.

After my past search on the topic, it seems like there is a good chance of alignment issues so I've decided against it. Plus, with 19" wheels, my ride is already as firm as I want it. In any event, best of luck and be sure to post pics/info if you get it done!

I know it will be more firm with the 20" wheels than it is with 18", but visually itīs not what I like, the space from the wheels to the car is too much; What I really like is 22" wheels and bit lower, but thatīs out of question because roads here are not really the best, and it would be too firm, so iīm trying to get in the middle of it, a bit firm and better look than it has. Thank you for your help, I will post pictures when get it done.

Sorry about my english, it would be better in Portuguese.

It's abt 40-45mm lower than before.
The wheel alignment is needed after lowing down.

Looks great! More pics please! Is the ride alot firmer or rougher than stock? I would love to get some springs with my 20" wheels, but I'm worried about the alignment issues....

The ride is a bit rougher than before but I can accept.
Do not worry abt the alignment issues which the tuning shop will handle it perfectly.

Yes, I did, but donīt know what wheels should I put. I like those original ML63 ones but I think tires are too big(295) for a 320 CDI, I like brabus VI too but never saw them in 20" mounted on an ML w164; in 22" it would be easy because most of them look big enough, in 20" most of them look small. Iīm doing things slowly. Bought front brabus lights that will come next week, european bixenon Headlights, eibach springs, ml63 steering wheel and if decide to put ML63 Wheels I will go for the wheel arcs too. Almost forgot, puted double exhaust tips too.
I like those wheels on your ML, Kahn design isnīt it?

For another idea...here is a pic of my ML500 with the OZ wheels 20". I honestly don't think I'd want them any bigger than 20" at least in this design. Hard to tell from the pics, but in person they look much bigger.

Yes! Red, pls do the low-down, it will look much more sporty with your 20" rims.

Here in Hong Kong, it's abt USD650 for the low-down including installation and 4-wheel alignment.

Hong Kong! Off-topic, but the last airline I flew as a pilot for (see avatar) had our base in Macau and we did lots of trips into Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taipei, etc.... Still have some fancy Rolex's to show for it....haha
It just takes one look at the huge cargo ramp in HK FULL of 747's being loaded with merchandise to know which country is in major growth mode.

I will look into the springs down here in Miami to price them out. Anyone know a cheap place to order them from on the internet? Thx!

the springs arenīt expensive, will cost you around us$400,00, this from eibach, if you go through brabus or carlsson(made from eibach, i guess) price goes 50% plus and you also get a carlsson or brabus sticker, hehehe...

Eibach Sport Spring costed me abt USD 450 and installation and wheels alignment costed me USD 200.
How much are you gonna pay for the installation and wheel alignment in your country? Phil.

Thatīs about what I told. In my case, Iīm in Portugal but my ML is in Canada for a few more months, I have family in car business (sales and shop, www.worldfinecars.com and eurospek) so they gaved me special deals on parts and my brother will get me the installation for free. If anyone around Toronto needs anything in car business or shop theyīre usually more in european cars deals and repairs, maybe I can introduce and get specials.
