Slow Defroster

Hi All,

As I was sitting waiting for my windshield to defrost, I was wondering if other 08 ML owners noticed how slow it takes to clear the windshield.

Now it was about 36 F this morning, and it took a good 5+ minutes for it to clear.

As I recall, my 06 ML took about 30 seconds to clear.

I wonder if my AC is not drying the air when in defrost mode.

All European cars have a "fast defrost" button or have HVAC controls specially labeled as to how to get max defrost.

It's described in your owners manual.

Press that button, and you'll get action. If not, take to dealer to be fixed.

Also, remember that diesels don't warm up as fast as gasoline engines. They basically have to be driven to warm them up.

If the outside air temp is say 0F and below, I notice the diesel taking longer to warm up, but even then the defrosting the front windscreen has never been an issue for me.

Our winter has been a real bear this year, but I've really not noticed any negatives with the CDI.
