Rough Idle
I have 2008 ML350, 1500 miles, the engine is very rough at a idle, either in gear, with the brake applied, or in park, most of the roughness can be felt in the steering wheel, and door panels. If I lift the hood, the top of the engine is rough. The SA says it is normal????? any Ideas?

I think the SA like most of them could care less about telling the truth and is more concerned about avoiding uncomfortable problems then about doing the right thing for you, the customer. ![bs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/bs.gif)
I can hardly tell my engine is running at idle. The car should be quiet and smooth... It's a Mercedes!!
Not sure what you mean by "top of the engine is "rough" when you lift the hood" but none of this sounds right to me.

Much better now
Pauly, when I lift the hood, and put my hand on the top of the engine, it is running very rough at Idle, very rough, I bought it back to the dealer today, the service tech agreed it is not smooth, he raised the idle speed 100 rpm, from 550 to 650, and adjusted the airflow sensor, the inprovement is great, much better. I didn't know the Idle speed was adjustable.

That sounds more like it.
Funny how the SA said it was "normal" eh?
Now you can enjoy the car as it was meant to be.
Just good to know how much or how little we can trust these service advisors.![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
Glad you had that taken care of.
