Michelin Diamaris 275/55 19 Fit Problems?

Any known problems? I clipped a curb and pinched the sidewall on my OEM 255/50 Conti contact this week resulting in a rupture in the sidewall. Discount Tire is shipping 4 of the Diamaris to my local store (Georgia to Houston) due Friday. I've not seen anything indicating the 275/55 won't fit my 2008 CDI, but it's always good to check with the people who have been before me.

I realize the extra 2 inch diameter will induce a speedometer error (I dealt with this on my '99 ML), reduced fuel mileage, and the higher sidewalls will decease the outer limit of handling (I try never to go there, anyway), and I'll probably need to acquire a larger spare (or upgrade my tire repair kit), but does anyone know if I'm missing something really important in going to the larger diameter, larger footprint?

As for esthetics, I like the greater expanse of sidewall and the fuller wheelwell. I also feel the larger tire will decease the potential for curb damage to both the sidewall and the wheel. Thanks for your comments.

Update

Discount Tire got the set in exactly when they said. In addition, they gave me $200 for my 3 remaining Conti Contacts with 6000 miles on them. The Diamaris fill up the wheelwell much better than the OEM. I didn't put a tape on them, but they appear to be about an inch wider on the tread. Subjectively, they ride noticeably smoother. The Sport suspension is closer now to the previous Normal suspension. The Comfort is very smooth. I believe the ride is slightly quieter also.

ML320CDI 2008 all options inc air suspension
Thats good to know. Keep us posted on how they wear since I have the Contis on mine and will look to another tire when they wear out. Glad to hear the extra 20 mm width isnt a problem. Also lets us know if you notice any shifting issues since its a 55 aspect and your computer thinks its spinning a smaller tire. The plus is the taller sidewall is giving you a softer ride

Thanks for for the nice review. Wider tyres provides better comfort Im not sure about the brand of tires you bought, I've had terrible experience with the Michelin Diamaris tyres..
