Brake Pedal Feel

Does anyone else find the brake pedal feel/feedback to be very poor on their ML's? I find it very difficult to make a smooth stop and/or roll smoothly in traffic with them. My wife drove the car the other day with me in the car and complained about the same thing. I have heard this type of feedback regarding other MB models using this same braking system, but not about the W164. I was just curious.

Thanks,

- FD

I find the braking system excellent and quite smooth. You just must learn to adapt to the feel and modulate the pedal. Its really a straight forward system. In fact I do not know of any two vehicles that provide the same exact feel where some learning is not required.

Agreed on both counts. I always have to go through a period of adjustment when I switch between my G500 and the ML320CDI. FWIW, the ML's brakes are a whole lot smoother, although some of that may be due to the age and mileage of the two.

Agree with the original poster--the pedal feel of my GL sucks. GL is same as ML, of course.

I think the feel could be better as well (ML 500), but it does get better as you get used to it. What I don't like is the long pedal travel before any substantial braking happens. I've had this looked at by a MB dealer and they said that it all checks out. I had a new C class loaner for a day and the brakes on that were much firmer and easier to modulate.
