Anyone with ML320CDI with aftermarket hitch?

Hi everyone,

Did a search in this forum and can't seem to find confirmed answers to the following questions:

"Has anyone successfully installed an aftermarket hitch to their W164 ML320 CDI? And is it the same hitch as the one offered for the ML350 and ML500?"

Reason for my question is that I called up my local trailer/hitch specialist (recommended by the tech working at an MB dealer), they said a hitch by Curt Manufacturing will fit my 2007 ML320 CDI. The part number is 13342 and it's a class 3 hitch. So i checked Curt's website and took a look at the instruction sheet. Only to notice it only said "ML350 and ML500", and had no mention of the ML320 CDI.

I just want to see if anyone has installed it successfully. The last thing I want is to have the local installer put in something that is incompatible and me experiencing a failure afterwards...

Thanks in advance!

Hope you don't need trailer wiring, as doubt the aftermarket can accomodate you.

On my GL, for example, the same single-filament bulbs are used for both tail lights and brake lights. The car's electrical system varies the voltage sent to make the bulbs glow brighter for braking. Like to see a guy with Scotchloks handle that.

In the ML there are separate bulbs for the tail and brake lights; although the computer might not like the changes in current draw for a trailer without the proper controls.

My experience

I looked into aftermarket hitches, but that didn't appear to be an option with airmatic suspension so I went the dealer route. I also have Parktronic, so it is nice to have the new rear SAM module which disables the rear parking sensors when the trailer lights are connected, and changes the shiftpoints to rev higher before upshifting.
