ML320 tires
Anybody have suggestions for 19" tires on an '07 ML. I have the Continental Conti 4x4 Contact on there now that came from the factory. Only 30K miles on them, but I have had so many punctures and leaks with these that I'm ready to move on. They're a smooth, quiet ride but I just don't think they've been reliable. Seems like they've picked up just about everything on the road that can poke a hole. I've never had this problem with previous tires or cars. So any suggestions? I want something quiet but still fairly sporty.

I like the Cont Contacts, find them quiet, good in rain and snow. I have never had a flat or picked up any nails or such. That most likely is a problem caused by where you are driving, not the actual tires.

And just an unrelated gripe....the tire pressure monitor on this car is way to sensitive. It's on right now and I've measured myself all 4 tires and non of them seem to be low. It should at least let me know which wheel is the issue!

Well I would agree with that generally. However I haven't moved or changed jobs or driven anywhere differently than I have for the last 2 cars I've driven. I've had maybe 2 or 3 flats before this car and 4 since I got it 18 months ago. I just wonder if the tread pattern on these tires makes them pick things up that others maybe don't.

Contis are junk.
Get michelins. I have the Michelin MXV4 Plus on my 2006 ML and put over 30,000 miles on them with 15,000 more miles left approximately. Very smooth, quiet, and amazing in snow. Stable and responsive tires. I might even opt for the michelin latititude touring tires for the SUV category touring tires since the MXV4 are passenger grand touring all season tires.

Dont buy Michelin Diamaris, worse tires ever made. Mine wore down after 15.000km = 9000 miles and MB did not replace them for me. Someone in the forum told me that they had a factory fault on the Diamaris and that MBUSA replaced them under warranty, the dealer here denied that and gave me crappy service.

I've had my 19inch Nokian WRs for a few weeks now. Overall I'm happy.
The ride is a bit softer overall-sport is less jarring than before. Quick turns do feel a tiny bit delayed before the car turns in, but it is very subtle and acceptable overall. I also feel the car tracks the ruts/grooves in the road a fair amount less than the previous Contis that had 17,000 miles on them.
Snow grip is excellent as is dry. They are still not as good as dedicated snows, but I think, especially in my Eastern Washington climate (went from 2 ft of snow to almost 50dF today and wet, soon to be dry roads) it is a worthwhile compromise.
I was supposed to get WR G2s but they ordered and installed the old generation. They have the G2s on order and will install them for free when they come in (so I'll get to report directly on G1 vs G2 shortly.)
