Fuel filter change fees?

Anybody else had their ML320CDI fuel filter changed? My car has 30K miles so it was due. $335 to change it!!! Does that not seem outrageous? Itemized seems like it was $50 for the filter and $262 to change it. How long does it take?

His 2019 RAM Cummins Turbo Diesel Laramie; Her's 2007 ML320 CDI P3; Mine BMW R1200R
That sound's close to what I paid when I had mine done. Next time I will do it myself. The information is available on Star Tekinfo for $18 a day I think.
Someone has posted on the GL forum that he did it in about 2 hours or so.
The harder job to do is the Air Filters. Cheers.

Thanks for the info! I feel better about not getting ripped off I guess. Maybe I'll give it a go next time as well.

Typical dealer outrageousness. There's a lot of stuff to be disassembled to do the job (Do the air filter elements at the same time, since it has to be removed to get at the fuel filter.); but the job shouldn't take more than 1-1.5 hrs, if the tech knows what he's doing.

Shouldn't there be a standard time for something like this? The only variance should be the dealer's hourly rate.

$105/hr...which is another things that annoys me. The techs actually doing the job get 1/4 of that if they're lucky.

Well, if labor was $262, that is 2.5 hours which seems consistent with what the other posters suggest. Standard time allowances are always a bit higher than it typically takes as the mechanic gets paid the same whether it takes him 1.5 hours or 3. That is why a lot of people like to find a good indy shop: first, they bill for actual time taken, and second, their hourly rates are typically lower.
