AMG BODY KIT

Does anyone have any experience putting on an AMG style body kit on their ML350 or ML550?

I've seen some ML550s in this area that came from the factory with the AMG Body and it looks very similar to the ML63. I'm not too sure if the AMG Body is an available option on the ML350 in the US but I've seen pictures of ML350s in Europe with the AMG Body in the same color as my ML and it looks really nice.

To do it 100% I would have to change the front and rear bumper, the front fog lights, put on wider fender flares, rear dual exhaust, and maybe 20 or 21inch AMG wheels. I have a 2008 ML350 and am considering changing to either the 2008 AMG body or the 2009 AMG body. Which bumper do you think looks better? As with the 2009 model, I would also have to change the front headlight covers and the side mirrors.

I'm not trying to go crazy by putting too much money in this car, but the other day, a huge truck hit my ML, and I was thinking if I have to fix it up anyway, why not replace the parts with the AMG style parts.

If anyone has any experience doing this or have any prices or costs, please let me know.

Thanks.

I don't understand why someone would put the time and money in doing that. After the exterior is matched up to the ML63 what else do you got to show? You lack in the interior, engine, etc features. It's like replicating a Lamborghini but at the end of the day it will never exactly look like one or have the same engine. With all the money being spent in doing that why not buy a ML63 in the first place? On the side note if you stick with this project it looks like it would be neat but money wise will rape you.

its because they fail to realize they are nothing more than a cheap poser. and there are a lot of them out there.

if you do everything you posted above... and not put on the ml63 badge... you are still a cheap poser.

what you should have done was not buy that 08 ml350 and you should have bought a used 07 ml63

The ML550's in 08 came with the amg appearance package as standard equipment. From the viewpoint of a person not familiar with car, the entire ML line probably isn't all that different (from the 350 to the 63).

True, but you are talking to people who ARE familiar with the vehicle, and THEY know there is a HUGE difference between a 350 and 63.

You want to put an AMG bodykit on it, feel free to as it obviously looks sharp. Just don't put an AMG badge on it...

no, i'm not ill temptered sosh jr. and i do know the 08's had the amg package as a standard.

it still doesn't change the fact the original poster is a cheap poser. i called him a poser, which he basically is.

and to answer you statement about... From the viewpoint of a person not familiar with car, the entire ML line probably isn't all that different (from the 350 to the 63)"

you would have to be either blind or completely non observent to not notice the differences between the 3 different models.

If I actually do go through with this, I will not change the badges with "AMG" or "ML63"... no need to misrepresent.

Vinceching, stop being a jerk. You obviously don't have any constructive comments left.

Everyone will agree that the AMG styling looks sharp. I don't see anything wrong with updating my damaged ML with the AMG bumpers so long as I don't put AMG or ML63 tags on the car.

He can't help it...

He's realtor with a real chip on his shoulder. I guess who can blame him in this housing climate.

constructive comments were subtle but there. *edit - no one denies the amg styling looks nice, but the point i was making was that you are basically trying to replicate to pass it off as a real 63 to people who don't know the cars. the main thing that shows me you are a poser is the fact you want to add the amg exhuast. ppl w/ the amg kit get fender flares, but you are going above that and getting the exhuast. no one does that unless they are trying to pass off something that isn't.

do you really think you aren't going to pay an arm and a leg for those replacement parts? sure you might be able to get your bodyshop to charge the insurance for replacement bumpers, etc and then just having you pay the difference to get the amg bumpers... but its not going to be cheap. and you are going to be hard pressed in finding a used ml63 exhaust let alone one on a wrecked ml63. good luck getting it from the factory... they charge last time someone posted over 2k.

i have a real chip on my shoulder because of the current housing market? in a good or bad market i still do well.

guess you never heard of all those buyers and contractors buying up all those bank owned, and short sale homes at good prices.

for what it's worth...I see nothing wrong with someone putting an AMG bodykit be it an ML550 or ML63 "look" as long as they dont re-badge it.

That being said I'd think it'd be a hefty cost to do this and wouldnt do it personally unless an accident or something of that sort requiring bumper(s) replacement.

Wow, is this a religion or something? Let the guy put whatever he wants on his vehicle -- AMG body parts, exhaust tips, badges, who cares? He can add gullwing doors and neon green paint if he wants. It's a TRUCK, guys, a collection of metal and plastic.

Get a life.

I'm most likely not going to change the exhaust as long as the existing exhaust is compatible with the new bumper which I believe it should be. I'm probably just going to change the bumpers which were damaged in the accident and need replacement. And, I will probably just go with the 2008 bumpers since the 2009 parts would require me to change too many other things. I probably won't do anything with the lights, fender flares, exhaust, or wheels given the cost. Again, I'm not trying to go crazy here... I'm only thinking about updating my ML with the AMG bumpers because they were damaged anyway by a truck that hit it the other day.

lol whats with the flaming?

maybe he wants the AMG look without the gas guzzling 6.2 liter engine.

and it doesnt matter "what he has to show for it"... modding is a hobby to satisfy yourself, not someone else.

I love the AMG kit and there is nothing wrong with having it retrofitted on your car as long as you don´t put on ML63 badges, but who would do something like that? Its not a Hyundai..

So I have a ML 550 (with AMG package) and I'm going to add the flares to complete the mean look. It will look great IMO and no flaming will hurt me suckers!

The thing is, I really like the ML63 side badges. I don't want to pretend I have a ML63 but they break up a sometimes dull side profile. So, are there any alternatives? I would really like the same thing with 5 5 on it!

07 ml350 was available with the AMG appearance package, but rare.
