Question Disengage or Disconnect Bluetooth Phone Connection from console?

I recently acquired a new 2009 ML350. In my 2007 ML350 I could disengage the bluetooth phone connection by pressing and holding the Phone button on the command console for about 15 seconds. This action does not seem to have any effect on the 2009 model.

It was so easy and a one step process as opposed to the multiple steps involved in disengaging the connection through my Nokia N75 phone. Has anyone advice?

Did you find a solution for this issue? I tried to work with the dealer, but had no luck. I truly think it is a bug in the command center software that would not give you the option to disconnect the Blue-tooth phone. It has been driving me crazy, and I cannot use the hands free any more at this point, I cannot take calls out of the car. This operates against any Blue-tooth standard in the market, we have a Lexus with the integrated Blue-tooth and there is an option on the touch screen to disconnect “transfer call to phone” and it works great. I hope they will come up with a fix for this, I just wandered if you had any luck.
Thanks.

No, in the 2009 MLs they have a new command center that everything is integrated to it. As soon as you turn off the car and open the door, it cuts off your call. Even if you already switched it to the handset before you opened the door, you loose the call. The only way to avoid it is, during your call, to go through 4 screens on your phone, turn OFF Bluetooth, shut off the car, finish your call and then go back through the same 4 screens to re-enable the Bluetooth. Just not right!

Mercedes bluetooth per call deactivation problems

No, I did not find a solution. I spoke with MBUSA and they offered no solution. Very disappointed with that result. And good point about losing the call after turning off the car. Very annoying.

However, I acquired an iPhone 3GS a few weeks ago and it offers an easy workaround, as Apple products are designed so well for the user experience. The iPhone easily allows me to switch between speakerphone, car bluetooth or handheld. Even with that option, I am tending to shut off my bluetooth because the call sound quality through the Mercedes system is poor compared to the phone or Apple's headphones.
