NEWBIE HELP - Retrofit Navigation

OK I searched and searched under the W164 forum to find out how to retrofit the Navigation Unit. I'm a newbie so please be kind.

I have a 2006 ML-350 and want to retrofit the Navigation unit. Can I do it just by adding the Navigation drive and gps splitter or do I need a whole new command unit?

I called up the dealership they were quoting me $2,200 for the modification. But this included new gps antenna and new command unit. Reading the forums it seems like the GPS antenna is already there... is that a true assumption???? I'm confused. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Just lift the rear left seat and open the carpet (sorta), then, if you find a black wire (MCX connector will be taped) and let loose there, then all you need is a splitter and the DVD drive. Good luck!

The antenna is already there, pre-wired and share with the TeleAid. The antenna needs a splitter as mentioned above. You'll find its jack hidden behind the Comand head. All you'll need is a DVD drive. I bought mine from eBay at $350 and it's plug-and-play. Search eBay Motors for ML350/ or W164
Good luck
