Rear Sam and Trailer Wiring

Does anyone have any picturs of where the Trailer Harness plugs in? I am being told some years need a new sam to add the trailer harness? I took a look and mine and it appears it might have a couple empty spots to the far left of the SAM. A picture or part # would help!

Thanks,
Joe

mb hitch and sam install

this applies to Canadian ml320 cdi only.
my 2008 did not come with a trailer hitch, if it has no hitch it will not have?? a brake controller harness.
when the dealer installed the hitch along with the new sam, which disengages the parktronic system when you hook up your trailer. The wiring harness that comes with the SAM is a 4 pin which you can then hook up to your brake controller. If you have a hitch installed this green harness is either in the rear by the fuse panal- pre 2007model, or under the dash post 2007, remove the three torq screws which you will find near the diagnostic plug above the brake pedal, it is either taped to the diagnostic cable or on the steering column, this took me a lot of research with the help of the local dealer i phoned MB about this the engineers could not answer the question- do all ml320 cdi come with the harness, they said they would have to contact the factory, still no answer i was also told that there has been a few complaints about the whole towing issue. if you need more info let me know

if it came with the towing package you will have the harness and the SAM already installed. you can add a third party hitch and install your own harness, the SAM turns off your parktronic and other things. hope this answeres your question.
