2010 ML550

My new ML550 arrived at the dealers last Sat. I was away and today was the first chance to go out and see it. Looks pretty good. Numerous differences from my 06 ML500. Command is totally different, has the CD changer buit in and no longer in the glove box. There are 2 cords in the glove box I believe for the Ipod and the other looks like a power cord for something. The lumbar adjustments for the front seats has been moved from the right side of the seats to the left lower side near the seat controls. I flipped thru the MFD and it too is different. I will miss the easy exit seat mover but it did not seem difficult to get in and out. The side mirrors are bigger and thats good.
I plan to pick it up towards the end of next week. Looks like lots of new stuff to learn.
Sorry Veloce Raptor I did not get the Vin as you asked but I will after I pick it up. I am also anxious to see the Steel Gray in daylight as I saw the vehicle in the dealers basement.

Picture?? You must have seen thousands like this one in the flesh. Actually as I said it was in a rather dark basement and I will try to get some pics in the daylight when I take delivery.

the 2 cords in the glovebox are ipod and aux input. Also new comand has a slot above cd input to insert flash memory

One thing i didn't like about the steel gray is that the body to bumper color match isn't very good. But C-Rod's RX350s coming from TMMC have even worse color match on the smoky granite model

i'm loving my 2010 ML350 so i'm sure you will enjoy your ML550. I used to have a 06 ML350 and this version is awesome. The only thing I don't like are the continental tires that came with the car.

My 2010 has Continental tires as does my 06 ML500 and quite frankly I was pleased. I like them alot, good traction, quiet, good ride and wear has not been an issue. Still have the original tires on the 06. As far as the body bumper match of the paint, I could not tell as it was in an area that was not well lighted,
What is the use of the aux input cord?? MP3?? And also whats the purpose of the flash card slot on the Command?? With an Ipod connected can it be controlled by the wheel buttons as it is in my E Class?

Sosh,

AUX input cord or for an audio device other than an IPOD
IPOD input now is FAR superior to the one on your E-class. Can now be controlled on the COMAND screen or the MFD via your steering wheel buttons. Also works fine with iPhone.
Purpose of the flash card slot is another way to transfer music to your COMAND.

You will love your 2010 ML, I just had a 2009 loaner and loved it. Much better than the 2006 as far as build quality and construction. Doors shut nicer and no more rattles

to that brother...........Apparently, when the vehicle is outside in the sunlight, it doesn't look as noticeable, but for a $50,000 vehicle, completely unacceptable !!!!!!!!!!

Where I saw the vehicle in marginal lighting it looked just fine. Will tell you better when I see it outside. If its a poor match, guess what I won't take it unless its corrected.
As for the $50000 vehicle you are way off. MSRP on mine is lots more than that.

Thanks for the info. couple more questions, where are the 12 volt power plugs and where is the 110V plug that I read is supposed to be there?? I also noted that DVD's could be played is that correct?
As far as the comparison to my 06, I am hoping that it is as good as the 06 as its been flawless with never a rattle or a warranty claim for a fault.

I have had my 2008 ML550 for almost 2 years now. I have 30K miles on it and it has been a pretty good ride. I had one problem when it was first new with a "tumble Flap" on the intake manifold. The first dealer who tried to fix it took 3 times in the service shop and never really got it fixed. Finally got it back from the road trip and had my dealer look at it and they fixed it right away by hooking up the vacuum lines correctly. Since then it has been trouble free. It is a huge improvment over the 2006 ML500 I had. I am sure you will enjoy yours.

Understandable, you guys with a match problem need to let MB know since if it is a problem its a supplier problem since the bodys are painted at the plant and the bumpers are painted by the supplier. Were I work I dont see the car with bumpers on it.

Interesting... I didn't realize MBUSI outsourced their plastics. Are you positive it isn't done in house?

Sosh he was speaking of the Lexus. As far as color match, the grays are very difficult to get a good match. Main reason is the way the metallic flake is oriented on the plastic vs. the metal body. You probably will not notice it unless you really look at it, takes a good eye. To me it sticks out like a sore thumb; however, most people never even notice.

I dont work around that stuff at all just by what Ive been told by reliable sources. Some how or another it was brought up in a conversation before and it was said that when the bumpers come in from the supplier they are already painted. I will confirm tonight.

Saw my ML550 in bright daylight today, bumper paint match is perfect. Also noted that there is no 12V outlet in the front. and , the rear hatch now has 2 close buttons, one to just close and the other if you want to close and lock it. I was there to choose the pin stripe colors as all of my cars for years have been pin striped.
Noted also the flash card slot in the command, looks like a camera flash card will fit and I wonder if it can also show photos? Any one know?? The 12V outlets are in the rearb seat area and the cargo area along with a 110V outlet. Guess I can run a table saw in the back if I so desire!!

The slot takes SD cards of up to 2GB. Yes, you can show pics, but don't mix pics and sound on the same card; the system just picks up the first one it finds and assumes everything else is the same. I have a bunch of WMA files on SD cards; the system does a very good job of playing random selections, the only drawback being that it won't display both the artist and the album title, just the album and the track. It's a great system. It responds very accurately to voice commands: "Satellite Radio." "Memory card." "Navigation." etc. My only real criticism is that there is quite a large volume difference between, say, MP3/WMAs played locally and music from Sirius -- not sure why as both are digital.

Re Pin Stries, I like them and they are quite subdued. Just 2 parallel stripes along each side. All of my cars except my collector cars have been striped since 1974.
